My Thoughts on Spring
Of the quotes posted on the board I will branch off of "If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome." I believe this to be totally true. I always think a nice winter day is wonderful and I wouldn't go to school in Minnesota if I didn't like the cold days as well, even though I am a little upset that it is April and it feels like Feb. I hate going outside seeing frost outlining my car, but if it weren't for these days I wouldn't like the nice warm day either. The winter is a time to relax and watch movies where as the summer is when your outside and always busy. Plus there are some really hot days in the summer that make you crave a cold day too, or at least a nice cool breeze.

When my opinion mattered...
I would say that my opinion is always worth taking into consideration. There are times where it matters more. I would say this mainly affects my boyfriend. Since he is always with me or we are doing things together he always has to do things that we agree on. I will say I think I have the upper hand sometimes because I get more of what I want. My best friend come to me for help as well. When they are having boy troubles or family troubles they come to me for advice. I remember one incident when my best friend wanted to break up with her boyfriend and I actually agreed with her. I knew she was unhappy so I told her all my reasonings for why she should move on. I do think she took alot of my opinions to heart. She also knows that I have a very good relationship so it was easy for her to see that I'm doing something right. In the end even though she stayed with him for a few more weeks she actually did choose to leave him and I knew a part of it came from my opinion on the situation.

Contradicting the teachers!
When it comes to the note Alex's parents recieved, Im confused on it. I don't understand why the teacher would tell the class a lie? Than to top it off write Alex the note saying that he disagreed with the teacher so it shows "blatant disregard for authority." Im not sure where this teacher was going with this? If a student knows the correct answer to what the teacher has written than why wouldn't they speak up? If it was me in his shoes I would have said something. In the past I have told a teacher that their information was wrong. They never freaked out on me and definatly never wrote a note to my parents telling them they basically raised me wrong. It looks bad on this teacher part.

Weather
If you haven't been outside lately I will tell you now its not pretty. The wind freezes my face and fingers, the slush doesn't help either. I have a hard time believing in Global warming just because I feel the world is on a cycle. We had the Ice Age and now we are heading towards the heat. Its going to keep coming and going around. I would like to state that global warming is not just the world heating. Its affected by the way people live their lives. Poluting the air and a whole list of things, all things not good for the environment. Living in Minnesota gives me the advantage to witness the freezing cold weather first hand. It never seems clear to us that the earth's temperature is rising. When the information starts to become more extreme, I believe than is the only time people will actually listen and try to change but by that time it will be too late. Its affecting the earth as we speak its just taken as a joke to most so...

What book/movie/song changed my perspective
I would have to say alot of movies change the way I look at things. It also depends on the type of movies, Im not talking about comedy or horror, but actual biographies. Movies that focus on tragities or ones that point out flaws in our society. I think they change my perspective because I know about most of them I just choose not to notice, but when a movie comes out Im forced to accept the reality and learn from it or criticize it. Movies have the most impact because it can also show me what others are doing to change this and I can always jump on the bandwagon.

What changed me
I can't say specifically what changed my life but I do think alot of movies have impacted the way I view the world. I wonder if what happened in "I am Legend" could really happen. I think about the movie where Robin Williams is a robot( the name isn't coming to mind) but in that movie there is so many high tech devices in there that it really does change the way I see people in the world around me. I know there are people out there who really do like all the technology but I don't want it to take over our lives. I don't want people to rely on plastic surgury to cure their problems. I believe they sure get outside and enjoy life for what it is. I dont need a machine to start my coffee and wheel it into my room so I can wake up. I don't mind walking into the kitchen every morning and starting it by hand. I think robots are nice for people who really need help, like the elderly, but give someone a job as a live in nurse so everyone can have a chance to do what they feel they were put on this earth to do. Its nicwe to look at in a museum or something but I wouldnt want my life to be run by technology. I'll face everything myself.

Professors
I do believe that most professors don't take the time to actually get to know their students. They assume we are just here to listen to them all day long. I find it much more enjoyable to be in class when the professor actually knows me. Im not just there to be a stick with a brain on the end. Yes I want to learn and discover new things but I am also a human being and I can't sit like a robot and consume information 24-7. When you get to know your students you understand them on such a different level that i think it will help professors actually be better teachers. You will see us a people and part of your team because we all have to work together or else they will be out of a job and we will not learn anything.

My Pet Peeve
I believe the thing that annoys me the most is when I take time to organize and clean something than minutes or hours later someone messes it up. I just hate when things are really messy! I try really hard to keep things organized and I hate it when others don't appreciate it. A clean hose is a happy house in my eyes. I also need it to be like that at work. I work at a coffee house and it bugs the crap out of me when I want to make a drink and there is milk and coffee grounds all over the counter. I don't get how others can live like that. I will consistantly clean the whole time I am awake at home to make sure the house stays clean. Even at work I will do my cleaning side jobs and everyone elses just so that the place can stay clean. I also try to talk to others to make sure they won't be around after Im done cleaning to mess it all up again.

Quote Reflection
"Education is what survives when what has been learned has been forgotten"
-B.F. Skinner
The quote means to me that no matter what happens when you learn new things and forget the old you always took the time to pursue the education. The education is the only thing that sticks with you. You could also take it in the sense that it doesnt matter what you learned because in the end you will forget it anyways. The education will always be there and you can actually prove you had it. Unless you say something that will one day become famous, no body will ever know what you learned but they will know of your education.

For The Semester
When I took the class English Comp. I was excited. I was always good at english in high school. My senior year in high school was the time I learned most things in english to actually benefit myself and in this course I hope to expand those skills. I would say that there are still many things I could learn from english and in this class I want to expose myself to it all. The instructor is very easy going which makes this alot easier. I won't have to worry about him snapping on us if we don't know the answer to a question he was asking. I think everyone does better in a class when we are not hounded by the professor. We all end up getting our work done because it doesn't seem like such hard work because were not stressed about it. For this class I want to try my best just like I do in all my other classes and I will continue to do. I know this is one of my strong fields so I want to show it off. I expext myself to finish the work and learn all along the way.

All about me
My name is Andrea Patricia Gale Currier.
I was born and raised in Minnesota. I have lived in multiple places, but spent most of my life in Anoka. I have a mom, dad, step dad, 3 sisters and 2 brother. I am also a aunt to one niece and one nephew. I do not have children but I have a 2 year old pup named Ginger who will do for now. I got my first job when I was 14 but at the age of 16 I applied at Caribou Coffee and have been there for the past three years. I graduated for Anoka High School and immediatly applied to Mankato State. I am majoring in Dietetics and will hopefully graduate as a registered Dietition. My dream job would consist of me either working in a childrens hospital or in a gym. I must admit this will be hard because I don't like to stay still for long, I love to travel. My family is from Germany and I have been there to see where my dad went as a child. There are so many beautiful things about it there that I want to continue to visit my family there. I also have two of my sisters and father living in Bismark, ND. Its not my first choice to visit, but with family there I will take the trip. I should let you know that I also love to cook. I find meals online and try them in my own kitchen, some turn out better than others. Its always been a hobby for me to cook. It was a lot easier when the food came from my mothers shopping and not my own but I manage. My favorite dishes include breakfast and dessert. Along with cooking I also watch TLC more than I should. This became something enjoyable when I moved here and didnt want to get lost going outside, so I turned to the tv. With school starting I havent watched too much, but my mom also watches it so it gives us something to do together even though were miles apart. I will say Im a mommy's girl. I am the youngest in my family so I took to her for the attention. I was the child that would stay inside and play with mom while everyone was outside playing. I didn't like to get dirty or wet. Thats where the cooking started because it was a fun indoor activity. I came out of my shell freshman year of High school. I became more aggresive in softball and let my hair down a little bit. I kept on the safe side by not braking any bones even when winter came and I always went skiing down the steep hills. I have only had really two life and death incounter, one I have had was when I fell through the ice behind my house. I owe my life to my sister Casey, who reached in to grab me. The second was when I was in fourth grade and my house started on fire when I was sleeping. The only things we lost were our belongings and a few cats, but my whole family got out. I love all my siblings and parents. I wouldnt be the person I am today without each one of them, even my dog.
